A round (or rectangle) of stretched-out pizza dough is the perfect canvas for showcasing in-season produce, no matter what time of year it may be.

In the spring, as soon as chives poke through the soil in my backyard garden, I grab some heavy cream, aged cheese, and spring onions and make a version of this genius white sauce pizza. When summer arrives, I can hardly wait for BLT pizza and anything made with fresh corn or herb pesto. Then there's fall, with its pumpkins and winter squashes that make delicious pizza sauces, plus Brussels sprouts and apples and all the other jewel-toned beauties. And finally, in rolls chilly winter, and all I want are comforting pizzas like French onion and sweet-hot pepperoni.
